The Most Requested Transfer Routes from Cluj-Napoca

After several years of bookings, a clear pattern emerges in where people go from Cluj. Here are the routes we run most often, with what makes each one different.

1. Cluj-Napoca to Avram Iancu Airport

By far the most requested, and the shortest: 9 km, 15–25 minutes depending on traffic. The demand splits into two very different groups — passengers with early morning flights who want certainty rather than an app that may or may not find a car at 4am, and arriving passengers who want someone waiting at the terminal.

2. Cluj-Napoca to Targu Mures

105 km, 1 hour to 1h30, from 480 lei. Half the route is motorway, so the timing is reliable. The traffic here is mostly business — pharmaceutical and manufacturing companies with international visitors — plus patients travelling to the city clinics. See the route page.

3. Cluj-Napoca to Oradea

150 km, 1h30 to 2 hours, from 680 lei. Part tourism, part transit: Oradea is the last stop before the Hungarian border, and many of these transfers continue to Debrecen or Budapest. A good share also end at Baile Felix rather than in the city. See the route page.

4. Cluj-Napoca to Sibiu

155 km, 1h45 to 2h15, from 700 lei. The most requested tourist route, almost entirely on motorway. It is usually the first leg of a longer circuit continuing to Sighisoara and Brasov. See the route page.

5. Cluj-Napoca to Alba Iulia

105 km, 1 hour to 1h20, from 480 lei. Almost purely tourism, driven by the restored Alba Carolina Citadel. Frequently booked as a day trip with waiting and a return the same evening. See the route page.

6. Cluj-Napoca to Sighisoara

135 km, from 610 lei. The UNESCO-listed medieval citadel, and an almost obligatory stop on any Transylvania itinerary. Note that vehicle access inside the citadel is restricted — we drop you as close to the entrance as possible. See the route page.

The short runs: Turda, Dej and Gherla

These do not look impressive on a map, but they add up to a large share of what we do:

• Turda — 32 km, 25–40 min, from 150 lei. Mostly the salt mine.
• Dej — 60 km, 45–60 min, from 270 lei. The junction for the roads north and east.
• Gherla — 37 km, 35–50 min, from 170 lei. Notably shorter from the airport than from the city centre.

What has changed recently

Two shifts in demand are worth noting. First, transfers to other airports have grown steadily — Budapest, Debrecen, Otopeni and Targu Mures — as travellers chase cheaper fares. Second, day trips into the Apuseni Mountains have picked up, because places like Lake Tarnita and Turda Gorge have no public transport at all.
