UNTOLD 2026: Transport Guide for Cluj-Napoca During the Festival
Every summer, UNTOLD brings hundreds of thousands of festival-goers to Cluj Arena, and for a few days the city runs at a different intensity: full flights, hotels at maximum capacity, streets closed around the Central Park and a demand for transport unlike any other time of year. The guide below helps you move around efficiently. Check the official UNTOLD website for the exact dates of this year's edition.
From the airport to your accommodation: the first ride matters
In the days before the festival, Cluj Airport is at its busiest. The queues at the taxi rank out front can be long, and ride-sharing apps switch to heavy surge pricing exactly when the waves of flights land. The stress-free alternative: a transfer booked in advance, with a driver who tracks your flight - if your landing is delayed, the driver knows and waits for you anyway. Just send your flight number when you book, and that is it.
The festival area: which streets to avoid
Cluj Arena and the Central Park become a restricted traffic zone for the entire duration of the festival. In practice:
- Splaiul Independentei and the area near the park - closed or with limited access; do not schedule pickups there
- The most efficient pickup/drop-off point for the festival area remains the edge of the city centre, a 10-15 minute walk from the entrances
- The bridges over the Somes river in the central area get congested at entry times (17:00-20:00) and exit times (03:00-06:00)
Our drivers are locals and know the restrictions of each edition - when you book, we confirm a realistic meeting point, not a theoretical one from an app.
The night rides: this is where the festival is won or lost
Leaving UNTOLD at 4-6 a.m. means tens of thousands of people looking for transport at the same time. The apps' surge pricing explodes and the queues for available taxis are long. Two things make the difference:
- Booking your return ride a day in advance, with a fixed time and meeting point - you pay the normal price, not an inflated last-minute one
- A meeting point 5-10 minutes' walk from the arena, outside the blocked core - you save 20-30 minutes compared to the crowds waiting at the nearest pickup points
Coming from another city or another country?
- Staying outside Cluj: many festival-goers stay in Floresti, Apahida or even Turda - secure your daily commute with the same driver, at a fixed rate agreed once
- Flying into another airport: for those landing in Oradea, Targu Mures or even Debrecen (Hungary), we run direct transfers to your accommodation in Cluj
- Groups of more than 4 people: we coordinate several cars departing at the same time - mention the exact number of people when you book
Conclusion
On UNTOLD weekend, the difference between planned transport and "hoping for the best" is measured in hours of sleep and tens of lei per ride. Book at least your airport transfer and your late-night rides after the festival in advance. Book now →
