Gilau, 20 kilometres west
Gilau is the commune at the western exit from Cluj towards Oradea, beyond Floresti, around 20 km from the centre — 25 to 35 minutes on the DN1. It is both a commuter village for Cluj and the junction from which the roads to the Apuseni lakes branch off.

Traffic on the DN1
The Cluj – Floresti – Gilau stretch is one of the busiest in the county. In the morning, between 07:00 and 09:00, the queue towards the city can double the journey time; the same happens in reverse in the evening. For scheduled rides we build in slack and, where possible, use alternative routes.
